What to Expect:
We will meet you when you arrive on the island, and help
you get settled into your home. We'll answer any questions,
and make sure you have a map. Then you're on your own to explore
and enjoy the island and its many surprises.
Our rental properties include paper products and basic cleaning
supplies, but there is no daily maid service on North Captiva
Island. You'll need to bring your own groceries and beverages.
Publix grocery store on the mainland will prepare your order
before your arrival, if you like. There is a small grocery
on the island, but it stocks mostly convenience items.
There are two restaurants on
Upper Captiva Island, Barnacle Phil's and Mango Island Cafe.
There's also a small deli and a poolside snack bar at North
Captiva Island Club.
Be prepared to slow down and live on "Island Time".
We like to savor each moment, smile and wave, and enjoy sunsets
and starry evenings.
Coconut Connection and the Curiosity
Shop are our island boutiques, and plenty of shopping
for gifts, art and apparel is also available in Matlacha and
Captiva/Sanibel Islands - just a short boat trip away.
When your stay is over, we'll also see you and your belongings
safely to the docks. Should you need anything during your
stay, just let us know.
Weather:
The weather in Southwest Florida is hot and sunny. Most days
during "season" are in the 80 degree range and without
much rainfall. Summer is our rainy season, with an afternoon
thunderstorm usually clearing in time for a gorgeous sunset.
All you need are casual clothes, with a light jacket or sweater
for winter. Swimsuits are the usual dress of the day. Come
and go as you are... we are into "Island Style"
and even on adjoining islands, we are into casual comfort.
Wildlife:
It's not unusual to see river otters, racoons, opossums,
and gopher tortoises roaming North Captiva. As you ride the
boat to our docks, playful dolphins, leaping mullet, and soaring
sea birds will be your escort.
Many ospreys - fish eagles - live here, and you might even
see bald eagles fishing for dinner. You'll pass a rookery
island for brown pelicans and frigate birds on your way from
Pine Island Marina. Gopher tortoises are another Upper Captiva
favorite.
Club Privileges:
Some properties include club privileges at either Safety
Harbor Club or North Captiva Island Club.
Safety Harbor Club features private beach access, poolside
recreation area, tennis courts, dock privileges, and other
amenities.
North Captiva Island Club features a kids playground, basketball
court, pool recreation areas, and more.
Many activities and rentals are available at guest expense,
from kayaks, boats, waverunners, fishing equipment to masseuse
and fitness center, and more.
Onshore Attractions:
Shopping, Golf, Art Galleries, SunSplash Family Water Park,
the Edison And Ford Estates, Historic Downtown Fort Myers,
The Shell Factory, sister islands Sanibel and Captiva, and
much, much more!
